Soroptimist International is a global nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives of women and girls. Soroptimist International of McMinnville, chartered in 1951, with approximately 60 members, is part of the global organization Soroptimist International formed in 1921. Soroptimist International has 65,000 clubs in 118 countries and territories. We are part of the global volunteer organization whose mission is to provide women and girls with access to education and training so they can achieve economic empowerment. Investing in Dreams is our mission. The organization also promotes gender equality through mentorship. The best way to lift up communities and nations starts with educating women and girls!
Our Signature Programs
The Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women, has provided cash awards to more than $2.7 million in education grants to about 1,800 women all over the world. Over half of our Live Your Dream recipients are survivors of domestic violence, trafficking or sexual assault. Nearly all of the women and families we serve have overcome enormous obstacles including racism, poverty, teen pregnancy, and drug or alcohol addiction.
Our Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls program empowers girls to break the cycles of racism, poverty, violence, and abuse by giving them the self-confidence and knowledge they need to achieve success in their future careers and personal lives.
Meetings
Our club meets every Tuesday beginning at noon-1pm from September through June. Regular meetings are not held in July and August. The club has one business meeting in July and one in August.
